Meet Natacha Voland
My name is Natacha Voland. Born in Beaune, I grew up in a wine family where wine was at the centre of almost every discussion, both for pleasure (being able to drink the best Burgundy wines) and also for business.
I remember having long lunches and dinners with well-known wine professionals like Georges Duboeuf, Alexis Lichine, and Robert Mondavi at the table. It was a festive, creative and very enriching environment.
I still remember some conversations about how important it was to promote Burgundy around the world!
The family business has developed over 3 main activities: bottling wine producers’ wines, storage, and picking and a négociant activity mainly across Europe, USA and Japan.
Our key success factors include sharing a long-term relationship with the best producers in Burgundy and our clients spreading the word on the innate quality and excellence of Burgundy wines.
Traditions
With my parents working hard, I was raised by my grandparents. My grandfather, Maurice Ninot, played an important role in my wine education. As part of a family tradition, my grandfather taught me how to taste wine from the age of 4.
We went to wine producers’ cellars and I had to learn how to analyse a wine by using my senses (nose, palate, colour). This experience of going to different cellars, meeting wine producers and discovering how they made their wines was so rich and intense!
Another tradition that we had was to go once a week, just the 2 of us, to different restaurants, to pair wines with food. Also, to be able to talk to the chef about his signature dish and to select the right wine to go perfectly with his cuisine.
Back to my roots...
I had the chance to travel, live and work abroad, discover new cultures...but always, with always one objective in mind – to one day work in the wine business with my family.
Burgundy is a complex region to understand, not just because of differences in terroirs and appellations, but also due to the winemakers. You have to know which wine producers make the difference on an appellation. My aspiration is to share with you, what will make the difference between a Burgundy wine and an amazing Burgundy wine!
