About the Domaine:

The Domaine des Hospices de Beaune, often referred to as a "winemaking hospital," carries a legacy of over five centuries of viticulture. Its origins date back to 1457 when Jean Guillotte le Verrier made a donation of vines to the "Hôtel-Dieu" (hospital) in Beaune. This tradition of donating vines was a way for families and patients to show gratitude to the institution. Over time, the wines from the Hospices de Beaune, also known as "Cuvée," often bear the name of the family who donated the plots.

Today, the estate covers 60 hectares, with 85% of its land classified as 1er Cru and Grand Cru. The wines from Domaine des Hospices de Beaune are sold annually at a prestigious auction held on the third weekend of November.

Elevage (Aging Process):

In 2014, Roland Masse was the head winemaker at the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune, bringing his expertise to that year's vintage. The wines sold at the auction are young, having been harvested only a few months before the event. After purchasing the barrels, they require aging by a "negotiator"—in our case, my father, who has been perfecting this craft for over 35 years.

My family takes great care to age the wine for 16 to 18 months, ensuring that the wines reach their full potential. We focus on respecting the terroir, nuances, and complexities of each barrel to reveal the true character and quality of these exceptional wines.

Tasting notes: Bright gold colour. Aromas are clean, fresh and ripe. Amazing delicate and fragrant nose with stone fruits, floral notes. The palate is rich with gentle acidity and charming long finish. Such a delicate and elegant wine. Region/Appellation:France - Burgundy - Cote de Beaune. 

Best before: From 3 years to 10 years.

Alcohol % :13.5%

Should be served between 12 to 14 degrees.

Food pairing: Lobster dumplings, fois gras, raw langoustines, vegetable tart, caviar, oysters, chicken in a creamy sauce, baked fish.
