In July 2023, we received a phone call from Maud, marketing specialist at Dassault Aviation
"Hello, we want to ask you if it would be possible for you to make us a pair of Rafale™ pilot trainers, in our colors of course?"
"Sorry, of course we can and why us?"
"You're the best, aren't you? And then you are a French brand that manufactures in France, too, like Dassault Aviation"
Since then, bad tongues have been saying that Eric, who already had swollen ankles, now has a big head!
"Yes, I'm a bit busy these days with Benoit, we're preparing a fighter jet pilot collection for Dassault Aviation"
A COMMON FLIGHT PLAN
At Dassault Aviation, as at Barons Papillom, there is no approximate piloting.
The biggest challenge of this sneaker? How can the grey of the Rafale™, designed to be invisible to radars, be made sexier?
For the rest, Dassault Aviation has placed its trust in us.
After 19 plates, many months of exchanges, adjustments, tests, the trajectory is finally defined. The prototypes have been validated and production has been ready since November 21.
And as nothing is left to chance, the design of the 70% recycled orange rubber sole is none other than the imprint of the Place de l'Etoile. The 3 cm thick wall is essential for perfect shock absorption.
A PRECISION APPROACH
The unique technique of so-called "placed" printing, carried out in Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges using an inkjet machine, allows us to obtain original and precise patterns, such as this model with an exact image of the Rafale™ logo. Note that it takes several passes with white and that the "rivets" print is obtained by a manual drawing, directly inspired by the rivets of the aircraft.
CONTROLLED PROCESS
The printing process requires great care: the device must be manually replaced every two sizes. The lines thus take on perfect proportions for total homothety regardless of size. Drying is done by ultraviolet rays, then a layer of varnish is gently applied to fix the indelible print.
TECHNICAL INNOVATION
Our unique and iconic TM180 velcro allows a 180° opening so that your feet can slip inside the sneakers without lacing. It is even easier to remove them. A real time and effort saver.

SCULPTED IN EVERY DETAIL
The silhouette of the insect is at the heart of the brand. For this exceptional sneaker, the tongue is enhanced with a gold metal butterfly jewel logo. The butterfly crown has its origins in the heraldry of the Renaissance barons. This golden logo was designed in collaboration with a French jewelry house. It took many steps to achieve this elegant result. For the Rafale™ model, we find the printing of the plane's rivets, directly on the leather, before the logo is applied, in Mauges, in the Vendée.
CAREFULLY CHOSEN MATERIALS
Sourced from an Italian tannery and hand-stitched, the internal perforated leather lining offers great flexibility and a plush feel, making the sneaker a real glove for the feet.
You will observe the leather soften after several days of use: this is completely normal and a guarantee of quality, while allowing the sneaker to adapt to your shape.
